Creative Decluttering Workshop
In April I will be joining Trelya to offer a 6 week creative workshop which aims to creatively explore feelings around chronic disorganisation and hoarding behaviours. It offers an opportunity to meet other people and connect with resources that can support in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment.
The workshops will start on 21st April and finish on 26th May. Sessions will run every Tuesday from 11am-1pm at Trelya in Penzance, TR18 3PE. If you are interested in attending, please sign up here.
The workshop aims to support participants to 'live well through the arts' in relation to decluttering. It is exploratory in nature, I aim to gain more understanding around some of the feelings associated with decluttering and raise awareness. A creative approach helps participants express what they find difficult to articulate. Many of my clients are isolated and this workshop offers an opportunity to meet others face to face and develop a sense of belonging. The impact of the workshop will be to increase connection, learning, meet participants needs, develop skills, develop autonomy - by expressing their own journeys/stories, increase confidence, gain access to more resources through signposting. Through art and the creative process, people feel more confident to share. There is much evidence to back this up. See The Creative Health Review report.
One of the aims of the workshops is to create an exhibition at the end of the course in order to raise awareness, start conversations and encourage more people to ask for support. It is about being seen, understood and empowered to make long-term change. The workshops take place at Trelya community hub where participants can access many resources including, further therapy, foodbank, dental services, help with finances etc. The community hub also has a cafe where participants can gather themselves and form their own groups/connections.
We will be working different mediums including drawing, collage, photography and creative writing.
Everyone is welcome - and we looking forward to meeting you!
